US 17 (12MM) 47” circular needles
Tapestry needles, marker, measuring
tape

GAUGE
9 sts and 12 rows = 4” on #17 needles (12mm)

NOTES
This cowl is knitted flat and then seamed with a mattress stitch.

DIRECTIONS
STITCH EXPLANATION
Cable Needle Front:
Slip said amount of stitches to the cable needle and lay cable needle to the front. Disregard and knit said amount of stitches, then knit stitches off of the cable needle.

Cable Needle Back: Slip said amount of stitches to the cable needle and lay cable needle to the back. Disregard and knit said amount of stitches, then knit stitches off of the cable needle.

CAST ON
With circular needles CO 74 sts.

Row 1 (RS): Knit across.
Row 2 (WS): Purl across.
Row 3 (RS): K1, CNF next 3 sts, K3, then K3 from cable needle, K6. Repeat from *. You will be left with
one (1) st. K1.
Row 4 (WS): Purl across.
Row 5 (RS): Knit across.
Row 6 (WS): Purl across.
Row 7 (RS): K7, *CNB 3 sts, K3, then K3 from
cable needle, K6* Repeat from *. You will be left
with one (1) st. K1.
Row 8 (WS): Purl across.

Repeat all 8 rows until your work measures 32-34”
inches (81-86 cm). Bindoff with a long tail. Fold in
half, meeting your bind-off row and starting row.
Complete a mattress stitch for a clean and virtually
seamless join.

FINISHING
Cut yarn, leave a long tail to thread through your tapestry needle, and weave in your ends to secure and cut. Weave in any remaining ends.
